Pizzalchik, the Boise pizza and chicken restaurant, this last weekend presented its 8th Annual Pizzalstock weekend. A standing room only crowd enjoyed 3 days of music, ranging from classic rock to garage band. All the music was provided by local bands.

Brad Breakell, the owner of Pizzalchik, told the Boise Beat, “This is Pizzalstock, three days of peace, music, love and pizza. I’m a musician and I also view being in the restaurant business as being an entertainer as well, so I wanted to combine both things with my love of live music. My kids all play and I play with my band for near to 13 years now, so I just came up with this idea on the 40th Anniversary of Woodstock and called it Pizzalstock. The first year we shipped in real dirt from Woodstock, New York and had a big mud puddle out front. Very cool, it’s was a lot of fun! All local musicians. One year my nephew came down from Canada—I’m from Canada—and he brought his band down and played!”.

Entertainment ranged from young to old. Nobel Holt, 13-year old local guitar phenomenon, played a sizzling set including tunes like “Crossroads* and “Whipping Post”. Scott Wallenberg and Bob Umphress, showing some gray hair, gave a tribute to writer/singer/composer JJ Cale that was second to none. Over the three days, many local bands gave a nice view of the local music scene.

Meanwhile, pizza after pizza came out to hungry fans. Pizzalchik makes a great pizza, with a nice thin crispy crust and a good variety of fresh toppings. There was plenty of beer too, including a nice range of craft beers. Snake River Brewing even sent a trailer for the event with several taps of their different beers.

All in all, it was a great weekend and something to look forward to for nest year.
