Gary Tackett has just released his debut album, Blue Eyed Sole. The long awaited release showcases Gary’s songwriting talents, soulful voice and blistering guitar work. Gary Tackett is no newcomer to the national and local music scene. His background includes years of touring as the guitarist for Billy Currington, with whom he is playing at Boise’s Country Stomp on June 24. He has played at places as varied as the Oakland Coliseum and the Grand Old Opry in Nashville. He has also recorded with Merle Haggard, playing guitar on his Blue Jungle album. He’s developed his roadhouse-style rock and blues playing to a fine degree and incorporates many diverse elements into the basic blues-rock style.
The release today comes on the heels of Apple Music featuring Over the Side from Blue Eyed Sole as one of their iTunes Blues Hot Tracks. This has earned the song a lot of airplay and a lot of excitement for the upcoming release.
Tonight, June 7, Gary will hold the official release party for Blue Eyed Sole at the Olympic Venue in Downtown Boise. The release party, beginning at 8pm, will feature Gary Tackett and Full Mood Rude, Jensen Buck and Special Guests.
Blue Eyed Sole contains a nice combination of rockers and personal songs that showcases Gary’s talent. Over the Side, The Bottle Lies and Down By The River show Gary’s propensity for hard-driving tunes with poignant lyrics. His tasteful guitar drives the band and gives melodic accompaniment to music that will have you on your feet.
Gary told the Boise Beat, “I’ve been lucky enough to play every stage from the Oakland Coliseum to the Grand Old Opry and have had every dream of mine come true so far. The first was having my name on a Merle Haggard record, Blue Jungle. My goal now is a 2020 Blues Grammy Nomination!”

This is a great new album from a major talent who is still a local boy at heart. He’s headlined many shows here including the recent Winter Blues Weekend.
