The Boise Phil Youth Orchestra will bring plenty of Holiday Cheer to travelers at the Boise Airport on Saturday, December 22 when they give a performance of holiday favorites. Helping to sooth weary travelers and bring some joy to everyone at the Boise Airport, the Boise Philharmonic is presenting their talented young future musicians in this holiday show. The Boise Phil Youth Orchestra (BPYO), led by Music Director Jennifer Drake, consists of woodwind, brass, percussion and string players from throughout the Treasure Valley.
After auditioning, these 9th to 12th grade young musicians receive ensemble training and coaching from principal players of the Boise Phil. They also receive rehearsal opportunities which prepare them for three major concerts a year, along with several service event performances by ensembles like the BPYO String Quartet. The Boise Phil Youth Orchestra ensembles have also performed in the lobby of each of the Boise Philharmonic’s concerts this season, giving concertgoers a chance to see and hear the future of classical music in the Treasure Valley.
Jennifer Drake, Music Director of the Boise Phil Youth Orchestra said, “As part of the Boise Phil Family, the BPYO is fully invested in the mission to connect to our community. It’s important that student musicians learn the value of reaching out, performing in new spaces and engaging our audience in innovative and fun ways. Performing for holiday travelers is just one way the BPYO is enriching our community this year!”

The Boise Phil Youth Orchestra will perform on Saturday, December 22 from 3:30-4:15pm in the atrium of the Boise Airport, near the security entrance. This will be a great opportunity not only for Idahoans traveling on Saturday afternoon to hear some holiday favorites, but will also let many from out-of-town and out-of-state hear the quality of the young musicians in our area. For the travelers that come, linger and enjoy this event, this certainly will bring cheer to the hearts of everyone.
