Treefort 2020 Festival postponed last Thursday until September 23-27 their Annual Music Festival, as well as the associated Forts such as Storyfort, Foodfort and Alefort. I’ve been trying to avoid writing this for a few days now, to see if things would shake out or a miracle would happen, but no luck. The coronavirus, COVID-19 seems like it’s here to stay for a while and affect all or our lives. Within the week, SXSW in Austin, Ultra in Miami, Coachella in California and Treefort in Boise. have all been canceled or delayed. Major League Baseball has been put on hiatus, with an indefinite hold (but probably not earlier than June now) of the beginning of the season. There will be no March Madness from the NCAA.
Major music groups as well as local groups have been cancelling gigs. With the latest government recommendations limiting gatherings to 50 and ultimately now 10 people, our options are limited. Treefort 2020 was ahead of the curve, showing that not only is it one of the premier festivals in the country but that they really are concerned about the well-being of their guests, performers and vendors too. For now, the best thing to do is keep an eye here and on the Treefort website for further updates. Treefort 2019 was simply amazing, as I found out and wrote about in The Boise Beat. The upcoming rescheduled Festival will be amazing too. With Treefort 2020 Festival postponed, there are still things we can do to enjoy ourselves and support our local economy. In the meantime, stay safe and help support the musicians of Treefort by downloading their music. Support our local restaurants by at least ordering delivery food or food to go.Remember, our foodservice people are among the hardest hit by this event.
