Sapphire Room welcomes SoulPatch back on Friday, October 8. By popular demand, the Idaho country-rock band will present a full-length show at the Sapphire Room in Boise’s Riverside Hotel. As The Boise Beat wrote the last time they played there, they had the audience on their feet at the end, bringing a standing ovation to SoulPatch. This time, SoulPatch returns with more new songs and delightful covers of some of your favorite tunes by groups such as the Doobie Brothers, Miranda Lambert, The Eagles, Little Big Town, Zac Brown and many more favorites. Diane Johnson, one of the original founders of SoulPatch, said “We’ve added more music throughout the year, and in keeping with our eclectic song selections – you’ll be hearing some Steve Miller Band, John Denver, Chris Stapleton, King Harvest, and more. And to make our drummer happy we’ve brought back some favorites from Bachman Turner Overdrive, ELO, REO Speedwagon to name a few”.
The musicians that make up SoulPatch include Diane Johnson on vocals and acoustic guitar; Shelli Rowling on vocals; Maribeth Lair on vocals and fiddle; Kiel Johnson on vocals, acoustic and electric guitar; Jeff Morgan on bass; Merrick Gulker on drums; and Jeff Johnson on keys. The instrumentation and vocal harmonies allow them to cover songs that other groups just can’t attempt. They met several years ago at their church and started playing together. Having both family and friends in the band proved to them that not only was the band talented musically, but that it seemed natural for Diane Johnson, Kiel Johnson and Jeff Johnson to bond as a family through their music. People must agree, since their Friday concert of their opening engagement sold out almost immediately.
This time, with Boise slowly coming back to the “new normal”, SoulPatch is going to have an even better Friday night. Diane added, “The Sapphire Room events were the first of our 2021 schedule – we are so excited to be back as we’ve made so many friends over the year and the gigs have just been a blast.
