Jason Lee Morrison The Best of US ALL

Memorial Day Letter to a friendThanks for being one of the few who has truly risked it all. You know the price. I’ve watched miracles unfold before my eyes more than once that spared my life and don’t understand how or why, when so many better than me were not similarly spared. All I can do is thank those who were willing, though not called upon to pay with their lives, and remember the fallen. This requires for us, their comrades, no effort or compulsion because their faces and characters are forever branded upon our souls. So, I’ll do for them only what I’d ask be done for me today: feel no guilt. Feel no pity. Remember their strength. And carry on the way we fought together: with sheer sacrificial love and ferocity, making every minute count on their behalf as well as ours as if we carried them along with us every day. Because we do.
