The Wipe Away the Blues Festival is coming up in Downtown Boise soon. The event will feature six popular blues bands as well as a special performance by the Boise Philharmonic. The Wipe Away the Blues Festival and fundraiser’s purpose is to provide diaper wipes for the Idaho Diaper Bank. Admission to the event is by donating at least one package of new diaper wipes.
The event is sponsored by Astegos.org in association with the Boise Blues Society, the Boise Philharmonic, the Idaho Diaper Bank and the Downtown Boise Neighborhood Association. Featured blues bands include Blues to Lose, Billy Blues Band, Hoochie Coochie Men, Blues Directors and the David Noriega Band. A special performance by the Boise Philharmonic will round out the day’s musical offerings. This is certainly a great way to hear the Boise Phil, whose new season under Music Director Eric Garcia promises to be their best one yet.
Astegos.org is a local outreach program providing food and meals, counseling and transitional housing for the homeless in the Boise area. The Idaho Diaper Bank provides diapers, wipes and other personal cleaning supplies to not only lower-income families but to the elderly who may require incontinence supplies. With the Wipe Away the Blues Festival, they hope to focus on building a great supply of these needed baby wipes for whoever needs them as well as any other donations that people will want to make.
The daylong outdoor Festival will take place on September 29th, 2018 from 11am to 7pm at Jack’s Urban Meeting Place (JUMP) 1000 Myrtle St., in Downtown Boise. For more information on the Wipe Away the Blues Festival, please visit the event webpage or the event Facebook Page. This will be a great way to help others and enjoy a full day of great music, so do plan to attend!
