Ed note: A few years ago I had the honor of being interviewed on Ken Harris’ Shades of Blues show on KRBX, Radio Boise. That exposed me not only to this show but a wide variety of other shows on this valued local station. They have also sponsored a live performance stage and broadcasting from Treefort. That is why The Boise Beat is presenting this press release uncut regarding their latest Radio Boise Fundraiser. Now more than ever, it is important to support this local community station. Check them out and keep their volunteers, producers and DJ’s providing quality programs for the Treasure Valley.
“What does Radio Boise mean to me in 2020?” Doug McRoberts, station listener and supporter pondered. “Everything. Radio Boise became a symbol of the antidote for everything wrong with the world.”
In a year when the community needed a consistent, steady voice to escape into, KBRX Radio Boise (89.9 FM / 93.5 FM / radioboise.org) donors contributed to the station’s most successful Radiothon fundraising drive.
A grand total of $65,262 was raised in October when 749 individuals in 21 states came together to aid the Treasure Valley’s only non-profit, non-commercial radio station.
McRoberts continued, “These people care…. It really is radio by people for people and so much more. A community of programmers, DJs, volunteers, donors and one of the few public platforms for social issues that are ignored by a large segment of the state’s population.”
Burdened by the financial impact of 2020 event income lost or on hold due to the pandemic, Radio Boise’s supporters, like McRoberts, ensured that the programming they count on continues to reach those who most need it.
