The 9th Annual Idaho Potato Drop was enjoyed by thousands on 2021’s New Year’s Eve at the Idaho State Capitol in Boise, Idaho. Provisions for COVID-19 were made, and all health regulations were supported with yellow wristbands indicating a COVID-free attendance.
With EMCEE Austin Von Johnson and Yeti Abides guiding the crowd into 2022, the stage burst into musical activity with Boise Rock School playing several popular Beatles songs, followed by High Pine Whisky Yell, Lucid Aisle, Andrew Sheppard, The GOV, and Cassandra Lewis.
With fresh snow on the ground and temperatures below cold, everyone huddled near each other and the many fire pits to keep warm and dance the new year in. Justin Kennedy showed off his talent with several flips through the sky after being launched into the air by a high speed wench, and the Wrestle Club challenged each other in their mobile wrestling ring. As midnight and the beginning of 2022 began, Cassandra Lewis stunned the 
audience with one of the most difficult songs to perform ever, Pink Floyd’s The Great Gig in the Sky. Perhaps it was her brave way of helping us all sign off to three difficult years in America and saying goodbye to these challenging days, reminding us that it’s time to reconnect and disavow division, and as The Boise Rock School sang earlier in the event, to Come Together Right Now, which is a Beatles song in support of reunion. We are all in this together, and for all of human history, the only thing that has ever brought us happiness is each other.
