Their beer menu has a nice rotating choice of beers on 40 taps, with everything from a <i>Teton Range IPA<\/i> from Grand Teton Brewing and a Sockeye Brewing <i>Kickback IPA<\/i> through a <i>Homestead Anniversary DIPA<\/i> and a Odell Brewing <i>Big Cookie Brown Ale<\/i>. A <i>Willettized Coffee Stout<\/i> is for those who like a dark, rich stout, flavored in bourbon and rye whiskey barrels from <a href=\"https:\/\/www.kentuckybourbonwhiskey.com\/\">Willett Distillery<\/a> in Kentucky.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_2604\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-2604\" style=\"width: 295px\" class=\"wp-caption alignleft\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-2604\" src=\"https:\/\/theboisebeat.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/02\/Waiter-theres-a-mule-in-my-drink-295x300.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"295\" height=\"300\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-2604\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Waiter, there&#8217;s a mule in my drink!<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>For those who prefer something light, they do have <i>Bud Light<\/i>, <i>Corona<\/i>, <i>Stella Artois<\/i> and several more beers to keep everyone happy. The staff is knowledgeable about the beers and very helpful in making choices. Homestead is definitely one of the better drinking establishments in the Treasure Valley to try some good beers. It is a comfortable place, with plenty of tables and a nice expansive bar.\u00a0The bar doesn&#8217;t just serve beer though. They had a delicious Moscow Mule too.\u00a0On sports days\/nights, it can get very packed because of the nice large TV&#8217;s, good food and good drink. As a neighborhood place, it really shows that they have a large following.<!--more--><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright size-medium wp-image-2605\" src=\"https:\/\/theboisebeat.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/02\/Outlaw-Mac-and-Cheese-2-300x200.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"200\" \/>Food choices at the Homestead Bar &amp; Grill in Meridian are wide with some very interesting signature items. The Mac Daddies are a selection of macaroni and cheese dishes, each made to order and baked in a house-made Mac Daddy Sauce. A simple <i>Classic Baked Mac &amp; Cheese<\/i> consists of macaroni topped with three layers of cheese. The <i>Idaho Mac<\/i> brings, as the menu says, <i>all the goodness of a loaded baked potato<\/i>, with the macaroni topped with fries, bacon, onions and sour cream. On one visit, the <i>Outlaw Mac <\/i>looked like a great choice to try. The macaroni is tossed with bacon and jalape<span style=\"font-family: 'Times New Roman', serif;\">\u00f1<\/span>os, then baked and topped with a large onion ring and a house made cilantro-lime sauce. The cool sauce tempered the heat nicely, yielding a nice balance of flavors.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-medium wp-image-2606\" src=\"https:\/\/theboisebeat.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/02\/Mushroom-Swiss-Burger-CU-225x300.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"225\" height=\"300\" \/>Another signature item that Homestead Bar &amp; Grill has is their burgers. The <i>Mushroom Swiss Burger<\/i> was excellent, with a nicely seasoned patty and lots of tasty mushrooms and gooey Swiss cheese. Lettuce, tomato, onion and pickles rounded out the burger which came with a choice of fries or a salad. The fries were nice and crisp on the outside and soft on the inside. The <i>Jalape<\/i><span style=\"font-family: 'Times New Roman', serif;\"><i>\u00f1<\/i><\/span><i>o Burger<\/i> was also very nice, with bacon and pepper jack cheese as well as the jalape<span style=\"font-family: 'Times New Roman', serif;\">\u00f1<\/span>os adding nice flavor and kick, with the Lettuce, tomato, onion and pickles adding a nice texture and flavor. Several other creative burgers, with portabella mushrooms, pork carnitas, guacamole, pineapple and even a fried egg provide ample choices.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright size-medium wp-image-2607\" src=\"https:\/\/theboisebeat.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/02\/fish-and-Chips-MCU-300x208.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"208\" \/>On another visit, <i>Fish and Chips<\/i> was the meal of choice. It was very good, with several nice Alaskan cod filets battered in an IPA batter and fried. The fish was nicely cooked, flaky and steamy when tasted. The tartar sauce was also very good and the chips were nicely done. Overall, it was a really good basket of fish and chips. The menu has other dishes under their classics menu too, including a <i>Flat Iron Steak<\/i>, <i>Fish Tacos<\/i>, <i>BBQ Pulled Pork<\/i> and a <i>Grilled Steak or Chicken Kabob<\/i>. Also on the menu are <i>Finger Steaks<\/i>, hand cut, battered and deep fried and served with their house-made cocktail sauce in true Boise fashion.<\/p>\n<p>The salads are a nice choice for many, with the standout item being their <a href=\"http:\/\/marriedatthemovies.com\/brown-derby-cobb\/\"><i>Cobb Salad<\/i><\/a>. This popular salad was huge, with plenty of fresh romaine lettuce accompanied by lots of diced turkey, bacon, tomatoes, black olives and crumbled bleu cheese. A nice sliced hardboiled egg graced the plate, as well as a lovely sliced avocado. Their were plenty of dressing choices, with the Bleu Cheese giving a nice creamy coating to the ingredients in the salad.<\/p>\n<p>The comprehensive menu at Homestead Bar &amp; Grill in Meridian also includes appetizers such as <i>Buffalo Wings<\/i> with a choice of sauces. Mondays are Wing Nights with a $2 off special. Other appetizers include <i>Cubano Sliders<\/i>, <i>Eggplant Parmesan Fries<\/i> and <i>Homestead Nachos<\/i>. Several sandwiches and pitas are available on the menu, including choices such as a <i>Veggie Pita<\/i>, <i>Souvlaki Pita, a Gyro Pita and a Chicken Caesar Pita. <\/i>Sandwiches include a<i> Reuben, <\/i>a <i>Beer Brat<\/i>, a <i>French Dip<\/i> and a <i>Homestead Club<\/i>. They also have <i>Chili<\/i>, made daily and available in a cup or bowl. Daily specials are also a nice choice. A <i>Bacon Wrapped Meatloaf Dinner<\/i>, <i>Chicken Fajita Sandwich, Braised Coors Light Asian Short Ribs, Chicken Bacon Pot Pie<\/i> and a Friday <i>Catfish Dinner<\/i> are recent specials. There is a Kids Menu with the usual choices, but also a make-your-own-pizza that kids will love.<\/p>\n<p>On weekends, the Homestead Bar &amp; Grill in Meridian opens early at 9am with a Weekend Breakfast. There are several good choices for a filling start to the day, including <i>French Toast<\/i>, a hash brown-based <i>Country Bowl<\/i>, the <i>Homestead Classic Quiche<\/i> and a <i>Cowboy Sandwich<\/i> with two fried eggs and bacon, ham or a beer brat.
